Film, TV, Media. First thing to come to mind is Hollywood. Right? Maybe not. Although for decades it has been viewed that media has been a one directional flow pumping from the US to its peripheries, the rise of different media capitols such as Hong Kong introduce the idea of multi directional media flows. These media flows are “transcending frontiers and disrupting conventional structures of domination”, and it is not entirely a bad thing. Actually, it is one of the largest steps forward that conventional media has undertaken in decades, as the opening of channels between media capitols allows the flow of many other pathways such as financscapes, ideoscapes and mediascapes etc. This leads to the increased knowledge of culture as well as the overall diversity of countries.
